STMicroelectronics has launched the VL53L4ED single-zone Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensor, designed to operate in extreme conditions with an extended temperature range of -40°C to 105°C. This robust sensor enhances proximity detection and ranging capabilities, making it ideal for applications in industrial tools, smart factory equipment, robot guidance systems, outdoor lighting controls, and security systems.

· All-in-One Module: The VL53L4ED integrates a laser emitter and a single-photon avalanche-diode (SPAD) detector array, ensuring reliable measurements even in harsh environments.

· High Performance in Ambient Light: The next-generation laser technology significantly improves performance in high ambient light conditions, allowing for accurate short-distance ranging.

· Autonomous Operation: Equipped with an embedded processor, the sensor enables power-saving autonomous operation, reducing the need for host-system resources.

· Distance Measurement: The VL53L4ED provides high-accuracy distance measurements for objects up to 1150mm away, maintaining consistent performance across the entire field of view and extended temperature range.

· Ranging Frequency: The sensor supports a ranging frequency of up to 100Hz while maintaining distance-measurement linearity down to 1mm.
